Townsend Communication Center is seeking part-time temporary telecommunicators to serve the community as it transitions to Nashoba Valley Regional Dispatch District. Employment will be contingent on successfully completing CJIS training and examination and a pre-employment background check.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to: dispatching over the radio fire, police and EMS units to emergencies. Monitoring fire alarm system, conducting criminal background check for police units in the field. Data entry of calls dispatched. Calling area communication centers to request resources.
Responsibilities will NOT include: Answering 911 emergency phone lines or business lines or providing Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD). Emergency Dispatch experience is preferred but not required. Pay rate to be negotiated with job offer.
WINTER PARKING BAN
The Townsend Chief of Police, Robert M. Eaton, Jr., announces the Town’s annual winter parking ban. The Townsend “Winter Parking Ban” is in effect in Townsend from November 30th, 2016 until April 1st, 2017. The parking ban prohibits the parking of motor vehicles on any public way between the hours of 11:00pm and 7:00am or at any time during a snow emergency. Vehicles in violation will be ticketed by the police, which will carry a $15.00 fine. Vehicles directly hampering highway department snow removal will be ticketed and towed at the expense of the owner. This “warning” is to advise you that your vehicle is parked in violation of the winter parking ban.
